SHIFT: Afternoon (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
JOB TYPE : Permanent
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY
Assist all DBG in achieving optimum weld quality and process capability that will meet or exceed Customer expectations. Provide production support and feedback for welding processes to optimize utilization of the equipment (weld cells), inventories (tips, wire, etc.) and labour. Maintain Welding lines and fixtures. Maintain welding engineering data and technical specification as required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and encourage a safe work environment and good housekeeping. Support JHSC and 5S initiatives.
- Provide support and feedback for new welding processes and products for Engineering team as required
- Maintain and repair weld fixtures for welding automation machines. Maintain the integrity of spare parts for these machines.
- Perform weld tooling and fixture change overs. Perform first off parts and validation/verification of weld quality with the Quality Department.
- Maintain the quality and integrity of welds produced through the automation process. Responsible for Weld quality for all welded components and all welding processes. Will perform Weld destruct testing on all welding parts daily, or more frequent if deemed necessary.
- Program and modify programs (within specifications) on resistance and robot welders
- Teaching touch-up points for robotic welders
- Troubleshooting weld equipment downtime. Provide feedback and solutions to minimize downtime
- Maintain log records of work within the CMMS system. This includes creating work orders.
- Maintain and provide feedback on the preventative maintenance plan as it pertains to the weld technician role
- Provide support (where required) to the maintenance team.
- Provide technical support/service to all facilities (i.e. product and welding knowledge) when requested.
- Adhere to and develop as needed, ISO/QS 9000 & TS16949 procedures as it pertains to welding.
- Actively participate in communication with stakeholders (operators, team leaders, technical staff).
- Work as a Team Member in all situations.
- A daily hands-on approach will be required during resolution of recurring quality issues or technical failures. Supporting problem solving events.
- Work in compliance and conform to QMS, EMS and H&S standards, Policies, Objectives, Impact & Aspect and Hazard and Risks
- Other projects or work orders assigned by Maintenance Manager
EDUCATION REQUIRED
Welding Engineering Technician diploma or degree (3 yr minimum) or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Minimum 3 Years Welding Manufacturing Environment with extensive experience in Welding support. Stamping or metal fabrication experience preferred. Experience welding Aluminum is a must. Experience with robotic welding is a must (preferably Motoman, ABB and Kuka)
